A hole in the wall. If you want to fill your stomach with some cheap, delicious tacos and not looking for a fine dining experience, keep reading.
Environment: Small family-owned business. Only saw a middle-aged woman taking orders, serving and cashing customers out. Menu is written in Spanish on a white board. Google translate will be your friend if you do come, unless you speak Spanish :) The are about four square tables inside the place and the table tops was a bit sticky, at least one the I sat at was. Didn't deduct any stars for sticky table tops because the price, quality and quantity is reasonable. There is a soda case to the side, cola and Jarritos sodas. On the other is a freezer case of frozen sweets you, along with some Spanish candies on the counter.
Food: You order with the lady at the counter and we ordered in English and it was fine. No language barrier there. After you order grab a seat. She will bring over a small bowl of limes and pico de gallo to your table when the tacos are almost ready. For tacos we ordered the steak (one of our fave, flavorful), chicken (spicy, but flavorful), beef tongue (tender, but lack some flavor compared to the steak and chicken) and chorizo (flavorful). Highly recommend to try these four meat if you're not sure what to order. Like authentic tacos each taco is served in a double layer corn tortillas and topped off with white onions and cilantro. Put a spoon of of pico de gallo on taco and you are ready to devour it. The tacos are quite filly, maybe 3 tacos per person is enough depends on how hungry you are. But you can always order more if your hunger is not satisfied, which was what happened :) When you're ready to go just go pay at the counter.
Payment: They take cards.
Parking: street parking

This place was really good. Parking sucked on the street but my Bf drove. Slightly bitter that I forgot to turn in a yelp elite nomination so I wasn't going to write reviews but this place is great.
We ordered the red sauce enchiladas and 3 tacos. The sauces that came it with surprised my taste buds. One was slightly brownish and so spicy. Like I was shocked. I dipped my fork in it and was immediately hit with spice. The largest container contained a deep red color sauce that tasted like mole. It was complex, sweet and Smokey. Personally too complex for my tacos but I'm saving it to put on grilled chicken later. Also came with pico de Gallo and an avocado sauce. Enchiladas were flavorful and full of meat. They also came with potato's and shredded lettuce. I got the steak, pollo and pastor. All were delicious. My bf got the pastor tacos and loved them. We weren't even hungry but we ate everything. Wasn't expecting much so I didn't grab a picture until I took a bite. -

Looking for authentic Mexican cuisine? Rhode Island Monthly presented El Taconazo with the "Best Hidden Gem" Award in 2017.
Now that's impressive.
What started out in a trailer in a Flea Market parking lot in the Olneyville neighborhood of Providence, El Taconazo is now an eat-in restaurant on Pocasset Avenue near the Cranston line. Take out is always a great option.
Each dish at El Taconazo is made fresh to order. In addition to the traditional steak & chicken, they also offer marinated pork, sausage, tongue, goat & fried pork skin as well as vegetarian options.
The sope, an open-faced taco on a lightly fried thick corn flour tortilla, makes for a perfect lunch when topped with their fresh house-made pico de gallo. The quesadillas are perfectly grilled. Fresh avocado slices & freshly chopped cilantro add the perfect flavor to the tacos gordos.
Their menu also includes authentic gorditas, burritos & enchiladas as well as tortas, tamales & chimichangas.
If Taco Bell or Chipotle Grill is your idea of Mexican food, think again. At El Taconazo you won't find any fancy neon signs or gimmicks. Just a popular, humble neighborhood eatery serving delicious authentic Mexican cuisine. -

Greatest mexican food in Providence, bar none. I have never had better authentic mexican in Rhode Island - the flautas, tacos gordos, burritos and sopes are amazing. When you eat here, it feels like you're eating in a kitchen in Guadalajara - truly a spot that needs to be in the discussion for best Mexican in Rhode Island. I pray that she never closes this restaurant - I don't know what my girlfriend and I would do.
